week 0: learning new tricks

…it’s time to pull this out of the closet and shake the dust off.  I originally created this blog for a grad class for which the previous posts were made.  Now, I am beginning a new class, Introduction to Alaska Digital Resources, so I will be posting my assignments here.

I attended a few EBSCO sessions at the Alaska Library Association conference (AkLA) 2012 this February in Fairbanks.  I learned how to create journal alerts to magazines using EBSCO accessed through the Digital Pipeline for anyone with email and internet access to magazines like…School Library Journal and Consumer Reports, both of which are very expensive subscriptions.  I still need to explore the many publications available.

Everyone in Alaska has access to both SLED and the Digital Pipeline and I’d like to learn more about it so I can spread the word and help others access it.
